How about an elite 6500 2.5-16x, the best of both worlds.

I said it before and I'll say it again, you can't go wrong with a 3-9x40 Conquest. Perfect all around scope-would be perfect for your deer and hog hunting. Everytime I look through my Zeiss, that reticle(Z-PLEX) gives me a warm feeling inside! so clear, so sharp, so black! GREAT product, ecspecially for the money.  Elite 4200-good scope, no wow factor.   Zeiss Conquest-GREAT scope, lots of WOW, lots of charisma, you will fall in love!    Love       Bricat

....................................I have done a side by side comparison between the 3x9 4200 and the 3x9 Conquest at the same time. This was done in sunlight on a clear day behind my dealers store. Viewed various targets in all magnifications at different distances to judge clarity, resolution and brightness between the two.................In the clarity and or the resolution dept., the 4200 gives up nothing to the Zeiss! Where the Zeiss is superior is in its brightness, but only by a very small percentage over the 4200!! The Conquest also has more eye relief. But I have never been whacked either by my 300 WSM compact or by my 375 Ruger!........... The 3x9 Conquest sells at between $399 and $449. The 3x9 4200 sells at about $289! Is the Zeiss worth the extra price costing about 30% or more? IMO? No it is not!! I could not see the difference in money between the two; and I have very good eyes!.......... Don`t forget about the 4200`s Rainguard lens coatings! IT WORKS! The 4200 will go anywhere under any condition the Conquest will........If someone tells you that you can`t fill a tag with a 4200, but will with a Conquest;;;;they`re either lying, very ignorant, very biased, or a combo of all three!...............Go right ahead and look through both if you can. If you can justify the extra bucks, then buy the Conquest!........I couldn`t and that`s why I own a 4200!!.................Happy hunting!

Good choice in the power range, and either of these will certainly get the job done....... I do not own a Conquest, I do own a 4200, and I have compared it to several other scopes that hunting buddies use......... The difference is in my estimation so minimal that you will not notice it.. I don't, at all. None of the guys I hunt with that use the Conquest can see the difference either.....

I have the Zeiss 3x9 and LOVE IT. Great on my 7MM. I also have a 4200 in 6x24 for my varmint rifle. You won't go wrong with either one, is the Zeiss worth the extra money IMHO- YES
