Hope someone can give me some advice. I'll be getting a Remington 700 w/5r barrel, primarily used for target shooting. I don't plan on shooting at anything farther than 200yds, since I don't have access to range with longer distances. I have narrowed my choices down to 4 scopes, all seem to be of high quality. The Burris FFII 4.5-14x42, which has a nice spotter deal going right now, but no target turrets and does not have a 30mm tube. The Burris BlackDiamond 3-12x50, which has target turrets and a 30mm tube, The SS 16x42, which speaks for itself, but doesn't have an AO. And the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50, it has everything I'm looking for but does not have a 30mm tube. I'd like to buy something that will give me the opportunity to shoot past 200 yds effectively, someday. Any advice wil be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You seem really keen on a 30mm scope.  Unless you are going to do really long-range shooting, I don't see a need.  I would not get the SS16X if you are currently only shooting 200 yards or less and I also don't see a need for a 50mm objective.  I would keep the power range down to around 10X, a 3-9 Xor a 2.5-10X and keep your objective size to around 40 or 42mm.

The reason why I like the 30mm objective is because hopefully someday I will be shooting past 200 yds. I like the fact that a 30mm tube will give you more MOA . The rifle I'll be purchasing is certainly capable of some really accurate long range shooting, and hopefully I will be able to take advantage of that someday. Just want to purchase a scope that will fill my needs now and in the future. I'd rather spend $500-$700 once instead of twice. Thanks for your advice, it is appreciated.

the SS does not have a AO, but instead, the parallax adjustment is in the rear of the scope, which to me, is much handier than the A/O. and i ditto ranburr, 16X is simply not necessary, even at 1000 yards a 10x will work fine. i jsut killed a ghog at 673 yards yesterday, and it worked great.
