dont care, most guys cant shoot the 12lbs rifle version offhand, the pistol would dislocate both shoulders and probably give you the worst whip-crack to the neck and back you would ever experience without being in a car wreck

i do know a fella who has a .416 rigby in a t/c encore that shot a deer with it up here two years ago, he said the poor deer may as well been hit by an 18wheeler
i have no need for anymore bruises than i get at work already. i would rather shoot the .375H&h 80 times than the ruger 40 times

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I don't want to be a "warrior" with a detached retina. Are the thick skinned deer in Minny anything like the thick skinned Democrats in Caully-forn-ya?

As long as we are on the subject of big bores, I had a 458 win mag for a while Rem 700 and liked it but traded it, I wont hunt Africa $$$. I had a Browning A-Bolt synthetic .375 H&H and it never shot a very tight group so I traded it. The only big bores that I have now are TC Encore .375 H&H and a TC Encore 45-70 Pistol. The pistol is lots of fun especially with the unsuspecting friend or two who wants to shoot it. The .375 H&H Encore is really quite portable and reasonably accurate, one hint - dont miss. I do have a .50 cal musket barrel that I use on the Encore also and it has been very successful at killing deer. Personally I dont think there is anything out there that you can kill with a .375 Ruger that I cant kill with a .375 H&H so it's rather a moot argument. Since I already have dies and ammo etc for .375 H&H it would be rather pointless to buy a .375 Ruger. I've heard a lot of horror stories about Rugers not shooting well and have had a couple of them that were at best 4moa guns one was a Ruger number 1 in 30-06 and a lot of their older revolvers didnt seem to group well. I bought my son a 300 Win Mag in a laminated Stainless model 77 and had it glass bedded and floated and it is sub moa so some do shoot. Over the last 30 yrs I have been rather disappointed with the lack of accuracy of some factory rifles however that seems to have taken a turn for the better in the last couple of years. So if you carry it a lot and shoot it a little the Encore is a nice system and I've been eyeing that 416 Rigby barrel and the rifle length 45-70 barrel. I think I would really enjoy having a Marlin 45-70 but I just have not been able to afford one yet. I worked in a gun shop years ago that had a lot of African type rifles the owner and several of his friends had some very nice double rifles and should I ever win the lottery I'm sure there would be one in my future but no win = no double rifle --- that just life. One day I hope to be able to replace the $29.95 tasco world class 3-9 on my 375 H&H with a better scope - cause that could happen

another thing to think about is the facts that the .375 ruger is a new-comer and probably would be readily available in the bushveld, and also there brass is spendy, even compared to the h&h

I have a Ruger M77 in 300 WM it is extremely accurate, the wood was absolutely gorgeous. It now sits in a Hogue stock. I still have the wood which is Walnut and is very nice.

BTW! According to my super secret inside source, preliminary shooting/reloading reports indicate that the .375 Ruger, chambered in the Howa M1500 prototypes, will be to say the least,,, extreeeeemely accurate!! How accurate?.......Squeezer`s secret!........It looks now, like I won`t have mine until Jan or Feb. Production is well behind schedule.........
