I thought that was right on. He didn't exactly ask what caliber, only that someone name it.

Now I'm curious....... What is the name of the other one?

Edited for spelling......... Wouldn't want Ed to whip out that emoticon again on my account.

Helo's on the right track with the 43 Dutch Beaumont. The neck looks a bit short, though.

I't is indeed a 41-swiss good going Ronk. I new someone would get it. I know you did not do a search for it now did you? ....just thought I would share it is the most unusual cartridge I have come across in a long while ...an old friend I had ,well his father took the gun on his first elk hunt in Rifle Colorado back in the 60's and shot a 400 class elk with it took 5 shot's to put it down but what an elk I have seen the rack it is HUGE.  thanks for playing.

I thought that's what it was, but didn't want to hog the spotlight after my stupid joke earlier!
I have a K-31 and a long interest in Swiss rifles.
An interesting distinction of the Vetterli rifle is that the cartridge overall length is critical to the reliable feeding from the tubular magazine. This is because each cartridge acts as a stop for the one behind it, as it sets on the carrier/follower.
 Cool rifles.
