My new to me 1985 Springfield M1A Supermatch rifle arrived this afternoon.

Assembled from USGI parts, fitted, unitized, bedded and tuned.

In this day of teflon and fiberglass I'd forgotten about the truly amazing character of blue steel and walnut......................

you couldn't have picked a better term, by the time the m1a gets you trained it all it's little quirks you'll wish all you had to pay was alimony. I do love their triggers though.

Dale,

I know what you mean.  It's not quirky..........it has character :)

I'm  anxious to get to the range on Friday to run this thing.

I was once very handy with these things.............it remains to discover what I've forgotten.

Dale,

Springer receiver, tranny bolt, Winchester bottom end parts and rod, Douglas heavy barrel.  Reamed suppressor, epoxied gas system.

Pyro,

That's the pic from the ad where I found this, can't take credit for the gas grill.

Chris,

I'll  take a few at the range with my cam this weekend.

Seller furnished the serial number via photo, I called springfield and was actually able to speak to the builder.

Thought it was nice to know that in 1985 receiver and stock were mated and since then never separated.

Bedding is in perfect condition as inspected through the mag well.

Rnage I shoot at is getting a Springfield range package shortly so it will be interesting to compare old and new.

Wife asked why I bought low tech........................told her one antique deserved another

which sites, the .014 NM front?? hope you keep the irons, none of this scope sh*t. Yur lucky getting the same reciever/stock, that fit problem was always their biggest downfall (wood was always to soft and some of those birch ones they made-jeeeez) , unless of course one went the bucks for a mcmillian.
