And then, as icing on the cake, I went and checked the card on my game cam near my blind. This bad boy appears multiple times over the past 2 weeks:

There's very little chance of someone messing with it. This is in a VERY remote location, in a very sparsely populated part of the state. The campsite sits on 3000 acres, 1 mile from the main highway off a dirt road behind locked gates, in the second least populated county in the whole state of Texas. The entire county only has 296 people living in it...in the whole county! Most of those people work on a historic cattle ranch, which surrounds the south and eastern property boundaries, 250,000 acres in size. There is no indication of anything being there from the highway, no draw for outsiders intent on crime and mischief. Anyone who even ventures into that part of the state is either just passing through on their way to someplace else, or is a local traveling to and from their farms. The closest city with more than 1000 people living in it is 50 miles away.

If for some reason I was unable to open the door, escaping through a window is a simple matter of just opening the window and removing the screen.

Of course, it's likely a tight fit for my big arse, but if absolutely necessary, it wouldn't take much effort to knock the whole window out.

So Ted, are you going to build an outhouse, or bring in a port-a-pot?

Mom and dad had some acerage in the area they grew up in with a campsite on it. They brought in an old WPA toilet (outhouse with a concrete floor and base, and vented). After a day or two, I kind of liked the outdoor feeling when using it. Just dig a deep enough hole.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Right now, I just have a portable folding toilet seat that I can move around in the trees behind the cabin. I do plan to eventually either bring in a porta-potty or build an outhouse.

There is running water near the campsite with a water faucet, so I have a simple shower consisting of a water hose with spray nozzle draped over a tree limb, standing on a pallet. I roll out a walkway of leftover EPDM roofing membrane material from the front door to the "shower."

If he comes around once deer season starts (archery opens on Sept 28; general firearms season opens Nov 2), I definitely will be pulling the trigger.

He won't still be in velvet by then. Bucks start rubbing their velvet off in mid Sept.

Okay, So that's what you call those things....  We have one at the local state park at Cordus Lake.  Used it once in the fall after tourism had slowed way down.  Evidentally they had just cleaned it out cause when you sat down to "think" you got a rather cold and unpleasant jet stream blowing up from the toilet....

now that's a WEIRD feeling.  I don't see how anyonwe could like that even Lynn.... Loco

I’m thinking a cot might be in order on that one, G!😂

You’re welcome to come hunting with me anytime bro.

But that buck has my name on it, so it would have to be AFTER I closed the deal on that!
