Head Banger  My dont you hate that when you reload about 80 rounds of 300 win mag brass only to find out that there is a reason why some of the primers were not purple in side but blue and they turn out to be large magnum pistol primers not large magnum rifle primers.  Now they have to be individually popped by cycling them through the rifle one at a time, all of them cause who knows which of them were the right ones. Eek

Put on your ear muff and saft goggles and pop them out with you press. It would save time and you wouldn't have carbon from the shot primer in the newly loaded case.

It might not be as bad on a small primer like that, but the 50BMG ate me up.

But all the primer should be able to be saved and reused later.

pistol primers can have the same basic mix, the metal is not as thick. so small rifle primers are used in hot 38 super loads, and 454 casuall loads to prevent puncture usually there is also a ht. difference, so sometimes a pistol primer depending on brand will seat deeper. if your not using really hot rifle loads pistol primers will work in rifle loads, 7/30 waters, 30-30, 22 hornet etc. although rifle primers are officially recommended. and of course cci military are even thicker for those crazy m1 type guns with no firing pin return spring.

I'm usually pretty careful with my reloading .

I dont want to take them out with the press due to the powder nearby.
I may look for one of those lee depriming pins and take my acrilic hammer outside.  But I'm still thinking about just popping them with the rifle then cleaning the primer pockets out and starting over.

Or, as Dale suggest, test shoot 3 rounds. They may just be fine.

I have a $4.50 tool from Lee that I use to deprime military brass. After I thought about it and looked around I realized I already had the tool so I took out all of it and sorted it by color and did it the right way.

Painful, but the best move in long run!
