First I bought the Bushnell ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 scope with the Horus H59 reticle because I got an excellent price.

Then fate came along and the Ruger Precision Rifle was announced. a few months later I got lucky again and got a 6.5 Creedmoor RPR.

I mounted the ERS scope on a Nightforce Unmount and have been shooting 1/2" groups ever since (when there is no wind ;o)

To me this combination is a very good moderately priced scope ($1,700.) with a very good moderately priced rifle ($1,000. + tax).

Since then I've added a Little Bastard muzzle brake, LRI aluminum bolt shroud and a modular MAGPUL pistol grip. I really love this rifle/scope combo. Very accurate using Hornady ELD-M 140 gr. rounds.

There are no comfortable packs - some are merely less uncomfortable than others.

Welcome to the OT.
Have you had a chance to compete with this setup?
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Sounds like an excellent combination.  What part of the Mojave?  I spent 15 years at China Lake...

Hi Eric....same here....first day on here, also Ruger RPR....but in 308,,,,BUT I got a 6.5CM take off barrel coming my way in two days....Ahhhha!!!
Looking forward to do this 1/2 inch thingy with the 6.5 CM !!
I am sort of a beginner in LR stuff and generally in rifles...but loving it and learning about MOA s and Mils...I will keep the Hornady 140 ELD in mind....cant wait to try it out soon....mine has a Mueller 8x32x44 on it....and it works great!!

James

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Alien, you'll like the RPR. IT is well designed and has many features that Savage and others seemingly cannot match at this price point.I don't know how Ruger does it but I'm thankful they do.
Send me PMs on how your RPR is doing, especially with the 6.5 CM barrel.

Eric B.
