Hi I'm new to the forums. I am looking to buy my first scope ever, and i need some advice. i am looking at 3 brands/models and i could use some guidance. i can get all 3 of these 3-9x40 scopes for about the same price $129-$139. first of all my rifle is a Savage Axis(entry-level) in the .243 caliber. Ok so the the 3 scopes are the Mueller Hybrid, Swift Premier, and the Redfied Revolution. i wll be doing some hunting and range shooting both at around 100 yds or less. Any input on these 3 scopes would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Redfield.  I am fixing to get one.  They are nice.  They are reasonable.  And they are part of the Leupold company and all that Leupold guarantee and stuff!!    Bucky

Wow, seems a bit one-sided here! Redfield's Revolution was my first choice to begin with since Leupold's well known and respected finger has been firmly stuck into the Redfield pie so to speak. I know the glass isn't leupold quality but the fact that they are overseeing the production and quality control makes me feel more comfortable investing in the scope. Not to mention the Leupold warranty. Thanks to everyone that commented! As as side note does anyone has any positive or negatives for the mueller and swift models? At a glance the stats for all 3 scopes were basically identical.

swift, they have been around forever and a day and they have a warranty like vortex and for the money the scopes are actually decent.

I'd either try to step up to a Viper that's on clearance, or I'd get a Nikon Prostaff on sale for $99 in that size from SWFA if it was me. The Redfield seems to be a slightly better scope than the Prostaff optically, but not much better and I don't think it's enough to justify the cost difference between that and the Prostaff that's on clearance. I wouldn't normally recommend a Prostaff at the regular price, but in the $100 range there isn't much that competes with them.

I had a 3-9x50 prostaff for a little while and the redfield 3-9x40 I have is far superiour optically than the prostaff.  given the objective advantage the prostaff should have had it didn't.  These new redfieds are really a bargin.

We (SWFA) have the same scope for sale at the $99.95 price.

A hunnert 'n' fiddy ain't much to spend on a scope. I can't recommend a Redfield over those others because I haven't compared them. But I have handled a Redfield, tried out the turrets, magnification ring and looked through it outside (during broad daylight). It seemed like a pretty decent scope.

Alright guys, I. Pulled the trigger and ordered the Redfield Revolution 3-9x40. 140 bucks total shipped to my door. I'm pretty sure I will be happy with it for quite awhile. I'll post something on the scope when I get a chance. Thanks for all the comments as well.

Very sorry about that. I didn't realize you all had it on sale, but now that I do I will start recommending it on all of the forums. As for the rule, I just didn't even think about what forum I was posting on when I posted my reply nor did I realize you all had it on sale. Sorry about that, but I will be telling people to get it from you guys instead of that other site now that I know you all have it on sale now.

I've not used the Redfield, but I do have a VX-I and I feel the Prostaff is slightly superior optically. Not much, but it seemed a hair better. Really wasn't much of a difference though other than about $130 in price. In the normal price range of the Prostaff there are a lot better options, but in the $100 price range, I think it's a good deal.
