Recently, I bought a 3-9 x 40 mm Mueller Sport Dot Rifle Scope (Illuminated dot) and had professionally installed on my .243 Ruger carbine.  A laser scope caliper, showed  the red dot was 1" below center.

After that and at 100 meters, the first shot was 2" to the right and 2" under. After those two shots it was impossible to predict where the next shot would hit.  Even after allowing for the barrel to cool off, not two where alike...  I have sent it back to Mueller and await their answer.

Very disappointed...

No yards in Maine just meters?

I was hunting red stag and black buck in Argentina.  The shooting range where I tested the scope had the targets set at 50, 100 and 300 meters...

Was there any particular pattern to your shots? Straight up/down, left/right, etc. or were they just all over the place?

All over the place! And when I put back the old Zeiss, it zeroed perfectly! I guess I need to look elsewhere for one with an illuminated reticle (since the hog hunting in Argentina is done mostly at night)

Just contacted Rich at Mueller and they have sent a replacement to be arriving soon.  Let's see how it all ends...  I would like a "happy ending"!

Follow up.  Just got a brand new replacement.  "Rich" stated that given the .243 is a "smaller" caliber, it should not have happened. However, they "noticed small ring impressions on the tube which could cause tracking and holding zero issues".  They recommended  to have the rings lapped and to follow the manufacturers recommendations of the rings manufacturers.

I guess since my .243 Ruger RSI in  lives in Argentina, I must get a rifle here in Maine to see how the new scope behaves.

All in all, Mueller is standing behind their products.
