So I have an ar-15 and a ruger 10/22 that I wanted to put a scope on.
Bought the Mueller tactical 4-16 X 50 and a burris pepr mount.  Wanted to try it out before buying the second scope.

Like the scope so far,  seems fine for my needs.

I was thinking of getting a 8.5-25 X50 scope instead of another 4-16.  Want the increased magnification to see far out targets better, so I dont need seperate spotter scope.
Put the 4-16 on the .22 and 8-25 on AR-15

I am looking at the Mueller Eraticator and Tactical 8.5-25X50

Difference I can see of the two

Eraticator has thinner and illuminated crosshairs
Tactical is not illuminated Mil dot

Other than that Im not sure the difference between the two.
Can anyone enlighten me?

I'd go with what you have.  The higher mag on cheaper scopes normally will turn to a cloudy mess when you go up there in power.  illumination is also just another feature that can break and cause you greif.  Better to stay simple when on a budget.

I have one of the Eraticators (top to photos) and while the glass is surprisingly clear (Japanese glass in a Chinese scope) for a budget scope it's not one of my favorites because it huge and it just feels cheap to me. That said their customer service is pretty good. I really prefer Weaver's V24 (bottom photo).

I just decided to get the Mueller 8-25 X44 Tactical.

I know there is better options but I really dont want to spend alot right now,  just to screw around at the range a couple times a month.

If I was using it for hunting or in combat I would get something better.
