Hey Gang ,
Just mounted a new Zeiss 6.5*20.50MC on the 300 Win Mag but i came across a bit
of a problem . i used the same mounts i had on the Zeiss 4.5*14*44 . I bore sighted it
befre hitting the range and had it wound all the way up to the extent i had no travel
left .So i took it to the boys at the Gun shop, they used some fandangle sighting thing and reckoned i had heaps of elevation . got to the range today and same issue its run out of elevation ....I'm on pretty much on target but no additional elevation
Just need some advise as to whether i need to pull the caps off and adjust the Zero or if anyone else has had this sort of problem with the Zeiss 6.5*20.50MC . Its a 300WM Savage 116 flls so it need to get out there a little past 100metres!!
Cheers

What do you mean by asking whether to "pull the caps off and adjust the Zero?"
If you already have it hitting at 100 metres, how did you get it adjusted to that point?
I'm confused... I'm assuming that's how you sighted it in-by adjusting the turrets until you ran out of 'UP" on the elevation turret.
If you really are out of elevation you need to get a 10 or 20 m.o.a. base to tilt the scope tube downward a bit in relation to the barrel.
Either that or use Burris Signature rings and the eccentric inserts available for same.

Hey Ronk - there was a section on the Manila that looked if I read it crorrectly , to be saying I could
pull the target turrets off and give myself the ability to gain a zero position.ie start the elevation again . Think the answer I was looking for you have given in that there are bases I can get to give me the tilt I need I'll vist the gang up at the shop on the weekend and get the same . Thanks |

I'm not familiar with your particular scope, but I THINK what they are referring to is the ability to set the pointer/indicator back to the "O" or "zero" position on the turret , AFTER you are sighted in at your preffered distance. This gives you the ability to dial in changes and then return to this easy-to-remember "0" point on the turret and be back to the original setting.
This feature won't help you though, if your elevation turret has "topped out" and you really have no more "UP" movement left in your elevation turret...
Edited to add:
Where did you find that old high-school photo of me, Dan?
( I remind me of a young Al Gore! )
