I ordered a scope and rings a few months back before I got the rifle. I was assured that medium rings would be right. Now that I have mounted it it is about 3/4" off the barrel seems way to high. Should I worry about it and get another set of rings? I am wanting it to be as accurate as possible. I have always heard you should  be as close to the as barrel possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What brand of rings were they??

That sounds kind of high, but before you send them back see how your cheek weld is.

Are you having to look up more than you want or are you comfortable??

3/4" off the barrel probably means your having to look up and your "breaking" your cheek weld.

I like my scopes to sit loooow.

They are Leupold QRW. Not uncomfortable at all. Im just concerned about accuracy.

Thanks for the pic.

I'm not sure why you keep referring to accuracy.

The height of scope is only a factor because of the cheek weld of the shooter. Basically, if your really comfortable with the setup, cheek weld is good, go for it.

Typically, a shooter would want his head down/scope as low as he can get them to acquire a solid comfortable cheek weld.

Comfort and accuracy generally go hand in hand.

I was told by what I believe to be unreliable source that it is very important. My opinion it shouldn't matter. I mean the AR's are never close either and I very comfortable due to the Blackhawk cheek pad. Thanks for all your input.

It does look like it is on the high side. Is the base a plus MOA base?  Usually the closer you are to the barrel the more comfortable it is. Cheaptrick is on target as usual.  If it feels good shoot it.
