I "finally" got a set of Optilock 30mm low rings. Finding these are like solving a Rubix cube !! LOL

Anyway........got the Sako 75 grey wolf .30-06 out and set up the rings and installed the Kahles Helia C 3-12x56 #4a I got from Chris . I love the whole set up so far !!

But since I am a "sure enough" neophite when it comes to this stuff .............I just always come up with question after question. This rifle has a longer trigger pull than any I have ever owned.........and then I added a limbsaver recoil pad. So it's pretty long now.......which is actually really nice since I am 6'03 and have long arms. It seems to fit perfect and makes my other guns feel bad.

But to get a "full" field of view I had to mount to scope a little further back than I would have normally thought about. My eyepiece is about even with the back of my grip behind the trigger guard and the front objective is only clearing the barrel by about 1mm !

Should this cause me any problems ?

I am assuming that as long as it has "any" clearance it should be o.k. and I think I have plenty of eye relief to keep from getting hit (which actually has never happened to me on any gun anyway) !

Since I can't edit..............I meant that my eyepiece is right about the front of my grip not the back of it !

What cyborg said, so long as the scope is not touching the barrel, you're good to go. As far as the scope mounting position is concerned, it is waht it is, so long as it fits you properly, that is what is most important.

As long as you have some clearance, no problem.  I have about the same clearance on a 7mmSTW with a Springfield Armory scope... it is a great setup.  Be aware of the possibility of mirage from a "hot barrel".  There is potential for some interference there, but it is manageable.
