Hi-
I'm going to be purchasing a Weatherby Vanguard .30-06 shortly as my first high-powered rifle. I think I've decided on the Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 for the scope (any comments on that?). I plan on taking this gun to the range 1-5 times a month and hunting whenever possible (couple times a year). What style of base do I want? How much of a difference will one style compared to another make? What about ring heighth? It seems as if low might be the best-is this correct?
Any info or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think these guys do rings/mounts for the Weatherbys. They obviously make them for the Mark V's.
You wont find a better quality ring than Conetrol......Anywhere!!

Thanks for the reply. Those look like fantastic mounts and rings, but I fear that A) I'm not good enough to warrant me using them yet and B) they're a bit out of my price range. I was sort of looking to spend $30-$60 on the base and rings-is this possible to do and come away with a quality product? Any recommendations in this range?

Check out Burris rings or Leupolds. I think your rifle would be considered a Howa, correct? |

Try Warne..... Part # M902/876M for the bases and 200M or 200LM (QD) for the rings. As for quality, Warne takes a back seat to no one. Your price range is right and once you try these things, you'll create a habit you won't break.

P.S.
FYI...... The Vanguard uses the same two piece bases as the Remington 700.

The conetrol rings work fine and look good. However, the one pair I put on a rifle were considerably more of a pain to work with than other kinds of scope rings. |

I have a gun similar to yours and I used a Leupold Qrw (weaver style or cross slot) base for a Remington 700 which is the cross reference from Leupold. For rings I chose the Burris Zee Rings (low) which is an all steel ring. In fact I have an extra setup if you wanted to buy them. |
