Hello all. This forum is an excellent resource for optics information. I've been browsing for a couple of weeks but need some advice.

I have a Savage 11GCNS in 7mm-08 on order. It's right-hand, short-action w/ Accutrigger. Now it's time to scope it. After reading reviews and handling a variety of scopes, I'm pretty set on a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40. I looked at others in the same size & price range (Leupold VX-1, Sightron SII, Bushnell Elite 3200) but like the Burris' feel. Also, if ordering via SWFA, the free spotting scope is a nice addition. Anyway, I assumed I would use Burris mounts as well. However, none of the fitting guides agree with each-other. Savage's own website lists a few Burris mounts, but that information conflicts with Burris' own mount guide. And Burris' guide conflicts with what's on SWFA's site. Hence my confusion.

I'd like a recommendation for mounts. My initial thought was Burris' Signature, but I can't tell from their descriptions which would be the right ones. Talley also has lightweight mounts specifically for the newer Savage curved receivers, which could be another good choice. Otherwise I'm a little lost. In either case, I'm assuming I can screw these directly to the receiver (using the drilled/tapped holes), or do I need a base as well?

Any opinions or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
