Recently, I purchased the Hawke 8x42 Frontier (HA3874). A very nice FOV, weight is ok. Adjustments of eye-cups and focus are very smooth, positive, not sticky. The outside covering is just gripy enough to stay comfortable in bare hands or gloved. No glare or flares even when used on bright sunny days, over a snowy surface. I have used a few binoculars over my 74 years, and these hold-up very well against all my others. I'll not mention their "makes" as many of you might chuckle. These Hawkes will spend many hours in the pick-up.
Shortcomings ... yes, the neck-strap is too long, even when adjusted up tight.
For a couple of 100 bucks, I got my $ worth!
