Hi, just wondering if anyone has compared these two or have any links to where someone else may have compared these? I have the Nikon Tactical 2.5-10x44mm W/Gen 2 mil-dot reticle and have been pleased with it since day one. I just received the Monarch X 2.5-10x44mm W/Niko plex. At first glance I was and still am disappointed with the fact that the turret housing is not near as beefy as their predecessor "Nikon Tactical" From what I've read prior to purchasing the Monarch X the main change was the mil dot not going to be Gen 2 anymore. I did not know about the change to the turret housing. They both do have 85 MOA of adjustments and they both have Made in Japan stamped in the bottom of the turret housing. Back when I researched the Tactical, I had read many reviews on the Tactical and it was very highly rated in all aspects of testing. I'm not sure on the Monarch X because so far I've not seen where it had been tested to the same degree. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?  Thanks

I got to ask, did these new Monarch X really come with these cheap looking stretch fit rubber sided flip-up scope covers? They have the name "BUSHWACKER" across the cap part that is plastic. My older Nikon Tactical scope came with Butler Creek flip-ups. I did not know how good the Butler Creek brand was until I got these today. I'm being serious, did Nikon really ship these "BUSHWACKER" covers? Or did someone else buy this scope and return it with these in order to keep the good ones?

THE OLDER TACTICAL IS FAR SUPERIOR IN MY OPINION TO THE NEW X... I personally do not think the X dose nikon justice the older tactical has held up very well and the glass is certainly far superior...

Wnen I get a chance I'll compare the glass and let you all know. I do know that they are a different animal in more ways than one. If you look inside the tube through the objective end you can see the tube is different in the way they were constructed. The old Tactical has a  lot of ridges following the objective bell from the big end down to the tube, kind of looks like a coarse thread. The new Nikon has a pretty smooth surface running from the big end to the tube.

Update and correction; As for the rubber flip-up caps, it does look like they do in fact come with these now. I did see a picture on another web site that showed the Monarch X with the same "BUSHWACKER" caps installed for the picture. Now for the error on my part, it seems that the original Nikon Tactical 2.5-10x44 did have 85 MOA total adjustment in both windage & elevation. But from what I read, it looks like the Monarch X has 80 MOA total adjustment in both windage & elevation.
