Does anyone have first hand experience comparing these two scopes, and not just in the store. Repeatability of W&E, clarity, brightness, durability, all the important stuff. Individual revues of the Monarch X alone would also be helpful. I already trust the quality of the Mark IV's but prefer the 2.5x on the low end of the range over 3.5x. The Leupold tactical 2.5-8x36 does not have parallax adjustment or 1/4 min W&E, so as much as I love my standard 2.5-8x36 VX III, the 30mm tactical version doesn't qualify. This is for a 300 Win Mag, hunting at ranges from 50-500 yards. I want maximum light gathering ability and the wider field of view for the close stuff, with tactical turrets for long range.

You've missed my point entirely. What I want/need, is not a mil-dot or FFP reticle. I'm using a laser rangefinder for estimating range on unknown size targets. Mildot ranging, even with an FFP reticle requires a target of known size, and Elk, Deer, Antelope, etc. vary widely in size and don't come labeled with that data. My targets will be no more than approximately 500 yards, so I don't need 1000 yd adjustment capability. !/4 min clicks actually are significantly more precise than 1/10 mil. To be precise they are 44% smaller than 1/10 mil (.25" vs .36" @ 100 yds) and my sighting targets have a grid to measure offset. Any come-ups or hold-offs in the field are adjusted by the clicks of the turrets for a dead on hold, instead of approximating an offset to both the vertical and horizontal crosshairs. And yes I'm aware of the Horus "Christmas Tree" obliteration of the sight picture that provides precise offsets, if you can make out the target behind all that stuff. Just give me a simple duplex type crosshair, a wide angle, extemely bright view at the lowest power (2 to 2.5 at most), totally reliable/repeatable turret adjustments and paralax adjustment at the turrets. So, can anyone out there vouch for those requirements in the Monarch X or any other scope I'm not aware of? Thank you.
