I shoot a lot of paper with my 22-250 and have tailored a hand load down to mid to high .400's

Is it possible that a scope can shift point of aim (zero) but still shoot tight five shot groups with 3 touching and two a little off making it a half inch group ?

I can zero it 1.5 high today and tomorrow it may be 1/4 high then next day 1/2 high and 1/2 left  then next right on on elevation and 1/4 right all in non windy conditions?

I know powders can change with temp but different time and time again. it can hit anywhere day after day.

its a 5.5x16.5x44 BDC and the left half windage cross hair looks like its drooping downward a little.

If so it will be the second out of three monarchs I have sent in for repair.

Are you SURE your rifle is bedded well?  Barrel free floated?  If its not entirely free floated with enough clearance, changes in temp, humidity, etc. can make the stock expand or contract and touch the barrel, causing this irradic change you have.

Dont scare me cause I have one of these on backorder, and have always been told what GREAT scopes they are lol.

It doesn't sound like your scope failed to me.

I would recheck rings and bases and the things Carnage mentioned before I get too worried.

(It sounds like your rifle is already squared away if it shoots in the "4's", but I'd recheck it anyway.)

Are you shooting your groups using the same power setting?

Scope failures of that nature in my experience, will grow more and more pronounced as you continue to shoot.

A Conquest I had failed after a couple of hundred rounds. The group went from 1 MOA to 3 MOA within 10 rounds.

How many rounds have you shot total??

Also, what other problems have you experienced with your other Monarchs?

Can you slap another optic on it to confirm it's NOT the rifle??

I put a 4x12x50 buckmaster on it a little while ago and will try it out tomorrow.

I have put about 400 rds thru this gun and scope combo and I never leave the 16.5 setting and always spend a few minutes dialing out parallax before shooting.

my other Monarch 4x12 had a spot not on the obj lens but in it! sent it in and had a new one back in less than two weeks.

Good to know Nikon's infamous CS Dept took good care of you.

Keep us posted and good luck!
