The scopes are both fine quality. I would get the 6500.

Edited:
Just noticed that you are considering the 6500, NOT the 4200 as I had believed. Never saw a 6500 "live" before.
Any reticle preference, Chris?
One scope you listed has a Mil Dot and the other has a Nikoplex. Edited by cheaptrick - September/09/2008 at 16:39 |

I would get the "duplex" type reticle either the nikoplex or the Fine Multi-X
I also like the idea of a side focus AO .
The rifle is a .243 Browning A-bolt. I'm leaning towards the Nikon for two resons:
1: Much less expensive but still a good quality unit
2: I already have a set of 1" Talley rings. Which would save me another $50+
I was looking at the Bushnell 4200. But I'd like something that goes down to 2.5 or 3 for the wider field of view.
If they had this in a side focus the decision would be made:

I have decided!!! I COMMAND you to buy the Monarch.
Seriously, I like the new Monarch and think you will too.
I feel the differences between the Monarch and the 4200 are too close to call, optically speaking.
