I was thinking of picking up the Model Seven and wondered if it's as accurate as the full size 700 ?

In general, yes, if you're comparing pencil barreled sporter weight rifles. The 700 is available in variations with better stocks and barrels (i.e. the 5R) that will typically outshoot a 7, but that has nothing to do with the action itself. Its main disadvantage is its shorter rear bridge, which means less mount selection and only 1 rear mount screw when using 1-pc bases. If I were buying a Remington bolt action, I'd normally avoid the M7 and go for the 700, unless I was buying a later model XP100 (which used the M7 action in its latest config). Having said that, I dearly LOVE my M7 Custom MS, which is the lone "non-XP100" exception where I'd opt for the 7 over the 700. That rifle just has such a unique class to it and is well suited for the M7 action.

I was looking at them and I like the compact and handiness of the rifle so was wondering.

However, I have really been thinking about a lightweight Cooper custom in .243 topped with VX 6 2-12

Thanks for the reply.

My M7 SS in .260 Rem shoots sub-moa with a few of the factory rounds I have shot. It is as accurate as the several M700 long and short actions I have.
Like RifleDude mentioned, the rear base is only one screw. I am using a one piece Talley steel base and it is rock solid.
