Sorry if this has been talked about before, but has anyone tried the Minox Ze5i line since it came out? Especially talking about the 2-10x50i

I picked that scope up last month but have yet to try it out doors. It comes in a realy nice wooden box, packaging is about as good as it gets.Has a new silver ring on the bell, similar to the old Leupy gold ring. The turrets are no longer mushy, they actually have a nice feel & click to them. Not quite loud enough but then again this is a hunting scope.I got the German 4A reticle, the bright dot seems to work in the light, but then again I'm doing evaluations in my home.I've been doing a side by side with my S&B Zenith 3-12 with flash dot #7.Illum.on the S&B is better.I feel the glass clarity is to close to call but I think the Schmidt might just edege it out. There is no tunneling in the Minox so the low end must go to the Minox.I look out my window to a house that is 800yrds away to come up with that result.I like the new 30mm tube. The over all feel of this scope is very much European including the glass. It kind of has a smooth as silk look, like my Schmidt. The eye box is excellent with a very nice diopta,I believe it to be +/-4.I think that Minox has a winner with this scope considering the price at $1650 This was compared to a S&B that cost $2650 street price.I'm hoping to get out by next week & run some real lift test like box test, zeroing out & hold over.

Hope this helped. This is not to be confussed with the real world of optics testing,I leave that up to the experts like Ilya & Jon A.

Okay thank you Stickbow, I've searched a lot but couldn't find anything like a review on it. Just as you mention I really like the looks. But what got me interested was the magnification range from 2-10, and then the illuminated reticle 4.

Good to hear that it has no tunneling, something I was very interessed in.

Anyways, think Ill pick it up. I once looked throug a Minox Bincoulair and was hooked by the first view through it.

I have to ask you Stickbow, how do you like the reticle?

I have heard it should be a little wide and it has a floating black dot in the center?

A hard question to answer as it's a personal thing.Every ones vision is different because I'm 67 & wear bifocals I have a hard  time seeing the black dots so I prefer Illuminated cross hairs & dots even during the day. This particular red dot works for me because it has a variable illumination.Oh how I do miss iron sights,I learned on them in the military & used them up till 5 yrs.ago.I think you will have to look for yourself on this issue. The closest for an illum.comparison is my Meopta R2 scope
