What's your budget? "Quality" means different things to different people. Quality at what cost?

Sightron S II Blue Sky 8x32 is my favorite of the Sightron products I have tried. Usually around $170-$180. Lightweight at 17 ounces and with a nice, wide 393 foot field of view. There is an 800 post thread on them over on birdforum. Great value!

Sightrons like SVT mentioned are good.

Another one, you may want to look at is the Vortex Diamondbacks and the Zen Ray.

In my opinion, and I have tried and owned many of the moxt expensive models. The Nikon 8x32 SE porro is they best.I have seen some pairs sell for $450 on ebay but you will pay $600+ on line new. That is the best but you can find many fine 8x cheaper and very good by Nikon, Pentax, Swift etc. Usually the better models that are less expensive but very good are Japan made.

I have looked up SVT's find and if anyone can comment, how does the Sightron compare to a Zen ED? I have spent time with the Zen and that glass is fine for what I am looking for now.

The 8x42 (or was it 43?) Zen ED2 that I have are noticeably better in all aspects than the Sightron SIII in SVT's post. The only thing where the SIII is "better" is that it is smaller in overall size. There really isn't any comparison overall though.

That being said, the price difference is substantial too, and when one considers the cost of the Sightron, which by the way is down to $129, it's a pretty good deal if you want a really sturdy set of binoculars for not a lot of money. Probably a better deal as a whole than the Zen's when one considers bang for the buck.....
