Anyone have one of these and whats your impression.

Just my impression but it appears to be a great scope for jump shooting game at close range.

Thanx for any opinions.

Best wishes, Bill

It is a good scope, but not a great scope.

It is worth the price.  If you've spent time behind great optics (S&B, USO, Swaro, Zeiss Diavari), the glass will disappoint.

At the end of the day, for the price, it is a good scope.

I own one, it's mounted on a SOCOM but will be coming off soon.  You looking to buy?

Rancid

I like that name. Reminds me of Rancid Crabtree in Pat McManus's stories.

I bought one some time ago to put on a 10-22.

Before I mounted it I did a few look throughs. One observation was a Sparrow parked in a tree at about 0800 and a sunshiney day, but well shaded. I could distinguish tree bark in excellent detail and also the lines in the Sparrows feet. This was 3 doors down the street. I know, thats probably not on Craig Boddingtons list of scope tests.

I thought that was pretty good for a scope in that price range and also for a 72 year old guy who suffers from Glaucoma.

I can only dream of scopes in the price ranges you mentioned. I'm poor white trash and can't afford them unless the dog and I stop eating.

One other thought, are those scopes that you mentioned (really) 7 times better than the DMS as gauged by price?

Anyway, I bought (2) more DMS's. One will go on a 458 Win Mag that I plan on taking to Alaska and the other one will go on a 35 Whelen for deer hunting here.

Your opinion of "it's a good scope for the price" suits me to a "T". I am happy with that.

Thanks once again.

Bill

Stinger, the difference between decent glass and great glass is astonishing.  If you appreciate the glass of the DMS, the glass of an S&B or USO would amaze you.

Glad you like the scope, it is a good scope.  It is not a low-light scope, as I am sure you know.

On a 458, can't say.

Enjoy.

Exactly: not low light, just illuminated!

In the dark, no spotlight, this thing sucks, illumination or not.  Granted, I shoot that things that want to kill me if I miss (so I try to never miss) but this is NOT a lowlight scope.  I was being serious.

Maybe we mean different things by low light.

Some of my expensive glass usage was on your (and ever other tax-payer's) dime; and for that, I thank you.

I talked with a few and someone said it had worked on an AR, I thought it might work on this thing, it does the job.  I have a Karsten cheek piece to install but haven't gotten to a drill press lately.

It works, and damned if 20 rounds of 175-gr BTHP ain't what's needed when 20 piggies (some 350+ pounds) emerge 30 yards ahead with a clear backdrop and 100 yards of open run.
