Hello, a fellow shooter suggested this site as a good place to ask questions.
I recently bought a rifle that has a scope on it. The crosshair has
dots along it that I am told are mill dots. May I get some help in
understanding what they are used for? Thank You in advance.

The Mil-Dot is designed as a ranging reticle and depending on the type of scope it may or may not be set in what are true miliradian increments. They can also be used for hold over, or hold under for various shooting ranges, There is a Mil-Dot master available here through SWFA, and you can use the search function to find out alot more than what I have already told you............Welcome to OT

I collected these links off the Tactical Shooting FAQ from Cheaptrick on this forum. I think it is very good info.
Also see the Optics FAQ's part way down on this page.
