Hello chaps and chappesses!

I say, my friend just spent $800 on a Vortex Viper FFP HS LR scope, mainly because I   he  liked the XLR  reticle with all those offset dots for wind and ballistic drop, but only after it arrived did he discover that it will only parallax down to 50 yards. As he likes to shoot things with an 80 foot-pound air rifle, this has somewhat buggered up his plans. The damnable vile woman is never more than about 20 yards away, and I can never get her in focus. It's a bit like a car that has a minimum speed of 50 MPH, bloody useless for my purposes!

Can anyone suggest a decent first focal rifle scope with at the very least a mil dot reticle, or something like the XLR, without that stupid parallax issue? 15 Yards would be nice, 10 yards even better. I'm not bothered about fluorescent dots or other gubbins in the eyepiece which is completely useless when, in any case, you can't see the Female Fiend at night.

Yes I am serious, even if I do sound like a Family Guy Character! Zoons and Gadblast!

Welcome to the OT!

What size magnification are you needing? The ones I use are SWFA SS 10X & 6X  they are side focus, & mil ,only problem is SWFA doesn't ship outside the USA!

How much are you looking to spend?

Price is not an issue provided I achieve my prime objective!

Sooky at the day care centre says that leupold scopes are of good quality and light, which is rather helpful, because I have, as yet, no biceps. Contrariwise, I am also informed that only the very expensive Leupolds have a mil dot reticle, they mostly have a duplex which doesn't fit my needs. Side focus is fine. I've tried AO scopes, I can't reach the focus on those without putting it on the floor first.

The vortex viper cost me $800. Anything around that price would fit well. Smashing the piggy bank means that all the money fell out of it, and I can't put any back in after I've done that.

I'm sorry to hear that SWFA don't ship overseas. Pity, because Lois has dragged me off to Australia in an attempt to find somewhere with tighter gun laws, where she feels safer. Hence the air rifle. But 80 foot pounds should work. Slow and painful, though. Her choice!

March-F. That is a lot more money, though.

I use a SWFA SS on my airgun, but that is a no go for you.

For distances that close, why FFP?
