I am planting a plot in very poor soil conditions. I do not plan to invest a great deal of money into this one. I want the most attractive power for the fall season. So how does this sound? Winter wheat, oats, and turnips? My research shows these will grow well even in very acidic soils. Any other suggestions? What other seed is cheap that I could throw in the mix?

Iron Clay Cow Peas - Iron Clay Peas are a warm season Legume used as a added ingredient to Spring, Summer and Fall food plots for wildlife.  Excellent for quail, dove & deer. Iron Clay Cow Peas produce forage in 45 days and mature seed in 100 days. Iron Clay produces the abundant amounts of organic matter and nitrogen needed to enrich the soil, resists common forms of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita), and grows well in our desert summers with moderate irrigation.

Fordhook 242 Lima Beans

Prolific even during drought and heat. Bush-type plants set 3-5 tasty seeds per pod. 75 DAYS.
