Chris, sorry but I cannot agree with you on this one, to many allegations and lawsuits that had been filed.

I'll kinda agree with Chris on this. I was taught to never speak ill of the dead. I've modified some in that I don't speak ill of them right away. Being serious here. HOPE he got right with GOD.

I'm sorry to hear that Farrah Fawcett died yesterday as well.  I was infatuated with her in my preteen and early teenage years.  I had her famous poster (the one that probably sold more copies than any other single celebrity poster) on my wall.  I was even a member of her fan club when I was 12 or 13.

R.I.P. Farrah!

They say things happen in threes and Ed McMahon passed, also. May they all R.I.P.

Since M. Jackson was 99% plastic, his body is going to melted down and made into Lego blocks.  This way children will be able to play with him for a change.

Guys, I am no fan of this freak either, but please listen to Chris and try have some human compassion. This guy, despite his millions of adoring idiots, led a truly miserable existence.
I think he deserves only prayers for God's mercy.

I really regret that he wasn't tried and punished severely on this earth for his crimes against innocent little boys. I think he may be regrettiing that now as well, but again, I hope God will make it all right in the very end, for all involved.
No more jokes here please. Nothing about his death, (or anybody's death for that matter), is at all funny.

Well said RONK!!  I really have no respect for him at all, but no one's death is funny.  I feel for his family in the loss.  No more jokes from me.

I hope I didn't sound sanctimonious about harping on this, because I'm as guilty as anyone in making light of such things in the past.
But age and time have taken a toll on me, and I've come to appreciate the Catholic principle of the acknowledgement that to 'bury the dead' (literally and figuratively), is indeed a work of Christian charity.
And before I get taken to task for bringing an aspect of religion into this, I doubt any of you non-Christians or Athiests could argue, upon much reflection, that it is in any case a decent thing to do; if for no other reason than to avoid causing further torment to surviving family and friends.

Respect is earned -- based on consistency of personal character, integrity, and honesty.

I believe that  a child molester is as outright evil as a human can be.

I belive in Justice where good is rewarded and evil is punished and if you dont get what's comming to you in this world --- you will get it in the next.

 Wes,
I completely agree with you on all points, including the first one, as it applies to the respect that WE must earn for ourselves , by BURYING THE DEAD.

There's an ancient Hebrew legend that when God destroyed the Egyptian charioteers who were pursuing the Israelites, by closing the Red sea back in on them behind the escaping Israelites, one of God's angels asked his fellow angels to rejoice with him.
God then sadly asked that angel, "Five thousand of My Egyptian children lie dead on the bottom of the sea, and you wish to rejoice?

I was flabbergasted when I heard that he had died....I had just learned about Farrah Fawcett a couple of hours before.....

He was weird, but anyway, he's gone now, the poor dude.  He really was a messed up person.

I'm glad to see that Farrah Fawcett is being treated kindly in the press.

+1 on Farrah Fawcett. She seemed pretty classy, from what I know, and I hope she rests in peace now that her ordeal is over.

The really sad thing about MJ is, he was a cute kid and a seemingly normal little boy.
Fame, money, drugs, alcohol abuse and the treatment of him by his greedy agents, the media and possbly some family members (?) all contributed to his agonizing slide into what can only be called a bizarre depravity.
He really wasn't allowed to have a normal childhood nor adolescence, and completely lost touch with reality, and ultimately, the seemingly clear difference between right and wrong.
As others have mentioned though, he also damaged other innocent lives in the process, and that will have to be rendered to Justice.

Since the death of Michael keeps playing in the news, my wife made an interesting comparison between his death and the death of the Iowa football coach.  Since it only made about a days worth of news most of you might not have seen the story of the football coach that was shot and killed in Parkersburg IA.  I grew up 13 miles from P-burg so I paid more attention to this story than Michael.  In the story of the coach, they talked about how he had been there 34 years, was a part of the community, helped get P-burg back on its feet after the tornado destroyed the town May 25th '08 and was also an elder in the church.  The same church that the shooter attended, and the shooters father was a deacon at.  The coach's family was on the news saying how he would be missed and what he had done to inspire boys through football and being a good example, and the most important thing was that they said that they believed he was in heaven due to he believed in God and tried to be a living example for Him.  What about Michael?  No one ever mentions any faith only the title "King of Pop".  I guess when it is my time, I pray that my friends will know full well where I'm going.

I have been thinking about this for a couple of days now.  I forget where I heard it, but somewhere on the news someone was complaining that MJJ is being disrespected in death by all the bashing over being an "aleged" child abuser.  Can't they respect the death of a man and not "bash" him at every report... was the paraphrase of the interview.

I mean don't get me wrong, I have repeated some jokes and what-not, but I recall when Evangelist Jerry Fawell died that nut-case atheist went off on a rant about how he is "glad that he died" and such.  Christopher Hutchins or something?

Anyhow, I recall the anger over his rant that Fawell "had just died" and "he shouldn't be talking like that about him, that is inappropriate".

Now I totally understand that this angry atheist Hutchins was ATTACKING Fawell because of his religious beliefs... but I am reminded of just how close reports come to doing the same thing every time they "report the facts of MJJ's death by tying in child abuse cases, etc.".

Additionally Fawell isn't the same as MJJ either.  I totally understand that.

Furthermore, I am reminded of how particularly HANUS sexual abuse of a helpless child is if these allegations about MJJ were true......

....so I have started guarding my speech on this particular death.  If he did abuse children in that way I am certain he is paying for those sins now... so there isn't much I can add to the Lord's judgement at this point.  MJJ now knows the end of his HANUS crimes, if any, as you can't hide from paying for your sins.... save the one Gospel truth that we can all can rely on if we are only willing to follow the advice in John 3:16...  but that is a story for another post.

That was available to MJJ too..... if he found the wisdom to accept it that is and not rely on "church membership" or "I am basically a good person"...
