Yes, I have one with a German # 4 reticle mounted on a .35 Whelan. To my eyes it is not as good in low light as its big brother, the 56mm Meostar with the same reticle. However, I consider it superior in both good and bad light to the 50 mm Leupold VX-3 and the 50mm  Zeiss Conquest which I own. However, others may differ as eyes and knowledge of scopes vary widely.

Outrider,
Is the 56mm still better if there both set on x7?
Or is it better because you can have the mag up a few more clicks in the low light?

Good to get some feedback from someone with hands on experience n not just read a article.

In my side-by-side comparisons ( and I've done several with these two under different lighting conditions ranging from low light to no moon to full and in between), I can see more clearly and later with the 56 than I can the 50 when both are set at the same power (as in your suggestion of 7X). Conversely, other locals have told me they gain only several minutes of seeing/shooting time in poor light with the 56 over the 50. To my eyes the gain in shooting time is 5-8 minutes depending on atmospheric conditions, cloud cover, etc. Some might say that isn't enough increased time to justify the cost differential, but to me that increase, and particularly so at that hour, is appreciable. It has meant the difference in several bucks riding home with me rather than continuing their evening stroll. While I have the illuminated 2nd focal plane 56, in my comparisons, so that apples to apples applied as much as possible, I only used the German #4 reticles on both the 50 and 56 with no illumination. Hope this helps.

I have the 3-10x50 r1 mounted on a ar hunting rifle I use for dusk and dawn conditions. The #4 retical and glass works real nice for what its used for but when it comes to darkness I would much rather have some type of illum on ret.
