Hello All,

Does anyone here have any experience with Meopta?  How would you say they stack up to the Zeiss Conquest Series?  Would they be worth the extra money?

Thanks,
Steve

I hunt with both. The Meoptas (Meostar) are on my four favorite rifles. I did a side by side study at night with the Meopta and my Swaro American. The Meopta won with my eyes and the 7 other guys on my deer lease. Daytime there is no difference to my eyes.

The Conquest scopes are great for the money. I think they work just as well under normal shooting situations. But if you hunt where late shots are legal or if you hunt in tall pines where it gets really dark during legal shooting hours, then the Meopta may be good for you.

The advantage the Conquest has over the Meopta is weight. My 4-12-40 Meopta (Meostar) is heavier than a 3-9-40 Conquest.

No wrong choice.

Meopta makes the lenses for Zeiss Conquest.  Meopta does make great glass.  The downside to the Meopta is all the models I have ever looked at only have 3" of eye relief, that is an issue for some people and some rifles.

But I use one on a 7mm and it is a good scope.

I own one Meopta scope, a 4-12x40 mounted on a 300 weatherby.  So far eye relief hasn't been a problem for me, I'd say the optics are on par with the conquest though I don't believe they are as nice as my Swaro AV.

Thanks again everyone.  I am thinking the Meopta 2-8x 42.

The 2-8x42 is from the Artemis 2000 line-up and while a very decent scope, is not quite as good as the Conquest.

Meopta, like most makers, has different quality/performance levels.  Meostars are their top of the line scopes and optically they are a little better than Conquest, but not by much.

I got rid of a Meopta Artemis. There was a big push for Meoptas a few years ago and I bought one for around $375.00 and thought it was lacking in low light hunting conditions for the money.I would rate it like a older Leupold VXIII.The Meopta Meostar is a good scope and would compare it to a Docter Optik.

I guess I am looking for the next step up from the Zeiss Conquet.  So... maybe I should save my coins and jump to a Zeiss Victory series or Swarovski Z6 series.  Since this will be on the nicest rifle I own. The Swarovski 1.7-10x42 is very appealing.

Any more advice would be appreciated.

Thanks All,
Steve

You are on the right track. To go up very much from the Conquest is not done cheap. If you want a noticable difference, it's going to cost.

+1 on the 1.7-10 Swaro.
