OT Faithfull,
I spent a couple months with this scope and the 30-60WA eyepiece, and wanted to share some brief thoughts:

Pros:

1. Outstanding resolution across nearly the entire FOV.
2. Outstanding contrast, even better than the Zeiss Diascope 85tFL I had side-by-side for all comparisons. This provided a vibrant color-saturated image.
3. WA eyepiece is incredibly wide (66 degree AFOV at ALL powers) with good edge performance while still maintaining long eye relief.
4. Great low light performance.
5. Top-shelf build quality, fit, finish, and materials including comfortable full rubber armor.
6. Precise, fast, helical focus.
7. Very well corrected for Chromatic Aberration. Unnoticeable in center-field and quite mild at the edge.
8. Wide sweet spot.
9. Excellent deep depth of field.
10. Tripod foot doesn't need an adapter plate to seat into standard Manfrotto heads.
11. Well-implemented iphone digiscoping adapter included.

Cons:

1. Lame untethered ocular cover.
2. Slight barrel distortion at low powers(However the eyepiece is distortion-free through the middle of the zoom, and shows minor pincushion distortion at the high end).
3. Some internally reflective artifacts were visible when glassing at a hard angle to a setting sun on one occasion (I did not see them again though, even when trying to duplicate the conditions).
4. Fast focus has a learning curve.

Conclusion:

For a retail price of around $2000 you get a alpha-class spotter with a wide, but still high-power zoom. A fine instrument. Meopta isn't exactly an "unkown" anymore, but this product shows they aren't trying to follow the leaders.  They intend to be the leader.

Thanks for the review Matt. My exposure to Meopta has been limited to the rifle scopes my brother, coyote95, has. But, they appear to be top drawer when it comes to glass.  It is not surprising to hear good things about one of their spotters.
It also appears they want more market share here with their Meopro 1" scopes.

Doug,

I also have their Meostar HD bins and Meopro 3-9X40 riflescope for eval.

The riflescope is really nice, and I would take it over a Zeiss Conquest.

The bins aren't going back to Meopta.  They are outstanding.

Excellent information, Matt! I can't say that I'm surprised, though. Meopta is fully capable of producing optics that stack up against anything available.

Thanks Matt for the info. They have excellent glass & good CS.I'm hoping they will bring in the ZD 3-15x50 sniper scope,it looks great on their site.Would be a fine match to the spotting scope & bino's.

Whew... for a minute I thought I had ended up in the binocular section again...

Great review and I agree with your assessment of Meopta.  I've not picked up anthing of theirs I didn't like.  I know a guy who has gotten rid of all his other scopes, high dollar scopes, and replaced them with Meoptas... he has seven.

Sounds like a good spotter.  I will keep this one in mind when I shop for an 80mm spotter.
