you can't go wrong w/ either - i would look through them both and see what fits your eye better.

i personally would choose the meostar - it's a great scope for the money.

i have the 7x56 and it's top notch.

J

i  have a 3-10x50 meostar on another rifle and i like it , i'm just not sure about the swarovski . its going on a .300 ultra  sendero and i'm really interested in low light performance and ability to hold zero on this heavy recoiling rifle .  has anyone compared the two in low light?

i had a pentax lightseeker 30  4-16x50 on it and it didnt have alot of eye relief , you just had to be careful. but i had some problems with it . exchanged it 3 times and finally got rid of it. i also had a nikon monarch 5.5-16x44 on another ultra mag. and it was pretty good and i almost put anothor nikon on this gun but i wanted to try something better  so thats why im thinking meopta or swarovski . i considered zeiss but the only one i like is out of my price range of less than $1000.00

I recommend you give Kahles a try.  I have a CL 4-12X52 Mulitzer0 and a C 3-12X56, they are excellent low light scopes.  The glass is top notch, better than the meopta and amercian swaros.  They are good scopes as well, but you will not be disappointed with a Kahles.

The Kahles Helia C 3-12X56 go with a #4 or 4a reticle no matter what you get, you will really like it in low light.  It is very easy to see.  It's a great scope I currently have it on my Tikka T3 Lite .300 WIN MAG.  It's about $1200 I believe.  Maybe less of the sample list if they have it.  The CL 4-12X52 is available without multizer0 as well.  It is a good bit cheaper than the C probably at about 800 o 900 of the sample list.  1000 new.  The 3-12X56 is brighter and clearer than the CL but the difference is small, hard to tell.  You can't tell a difference between the C and the Swaro Z6 and Zeiss Victory.  Maybe a trained eye can but not me.  Good luck.

I personally would go with the Swaro 4-12X50 between those two, mainly because I have no experience with Meopta scopes, but also because I don't like objective diameters larger than 50mm on a hunting rifle due to ring height, cheek weld, and physical bulkiness issues.  I have 2 of the Swaro American scopes and if the Kahles CL is better than I'd say it's marginally so, as I can't tell a difference optically between the Swaro AV 1" tube scopes and the Swaro PH 30mm scopes.  I have a couple of the now-discontinued Kahles AH scopes (predecessor to the current KX), and I'd say they are about equal to the Swaro Americans optically.  I'm sure the Meopta is a fine scope from all I've heard about it, but you can't beat the Swaro AV and Kahles AH/KX/CL  among the 1" scopes.  If the new Kahles CL is indeed better than the Swaro AV, then it must be the absolute finest 1" scope in the world.

My eyes tell me that this is indeed the case!  The two CL models I've owned were absolutely superb and, from a "light gathering" standpoint (ability to resolve an animal target in low light/dusk) both the 50mm and 52mm models were perhaps 1 minute "worse" than a 56mm Zeiss Diavari manufactured in early '06.

Just my experience and what MY eyes told me .  Other opinions may vary but at least I was able to compare all the scopes together over 2 hunting weekends last year...

Just so you know, I don't intend any facetiousness in my comment, by the way.  I make no secret of being a huge Kahles scope fan, so I totally believe it's possible the CL could be the best 1" scope money can buy; I've just haven't seen one outside a store yet, so my frame of reference is their AH/KX scopes.  I'm impressed and surprised by the comparisons!  I may have to add one to my collection in the not too distant future!
