Well I have a pair of Meopta Meostar 8x42 that I used this season and I really liked them. I know that Meopta is supposed to come out with a new HD model this year and I was wondering if there will be that much improvement over the older Meostars. Ive thought of selling these and trying the new ones if they are going to be noticably better but if not Ive also thought of trying out the Zen Ray Ed3 or Primes. Do you guys think the Zen ED3 or Prime are as good as the Meopta Meostars for the money? I know the Meoptas I have are fine but I like to try new stuff.

I have a pair of Meostars and I have a pair of Leica Geovid HDs, I honestly can not tell that much difference between the two, and the Leicas were 4x the price.  That says a lot about the Meoptas IMO.

IMO the only reason to spend a ton of money of binos these days is if you want a good rangefinder bino as no one is making a good lower priced model yet.  Otherwise there are way to many good options under $1000.  Cabelas is selling the new Euro HD version, I may have to stop by and check them out next time I am at the store.  I am sure they are a little better in some aspects, but I bet not by much.

The Zen Prime is not yet available. The Meopta Meostar HD will initially only be released in 10x, and that won't be til next year. Could be who knows how long before an 8x comes to fruition. If you are happy with the current Meostars, and are not bothered by Chromatic Abberation, I'd see no reason to go elsewhere. The Meostars are great binos.

You could compare them to the Zen 3 and see if you prefer one view over the other. The Prime should be out within a couple months hopefully, and you can have a look see at those as well. I don't see how either will "blow away" the view of the meostar, but they definitely may offer something in the view that you may prefer over the view of the meostar.

Yeah I just like trying different stuff. Usually most anything will work for me but I like to see whats best for the money. Ive seen a few of the older Bushnell Elites in 8x43 for sale from time to time. I wonder how they compare to the Zens and Meoptas. Ive seen them for around $350 used. They may not be Meostars but if they are close for less than half price I may try some.

I can't wait to try a Meostar HD. If the image is simply the current Meostar's image without CA it will be a spectacular bin. Right with the very best.
