I'm new to this forum site, but have been reading for sometime now.  I am interested in buying a 6x30ish pair of binos for tree stand hunting and am wondering about the new Meoptas?  They sure do hit my price point nicely.  Anyone bought a pair yet?  Curious if they are as good as the Vipers?  I like the fact they are assymbled here in US.

I tried the Vortex Raptors and liked them a lot but was not a fan of the porro prism design.
thanks Cat Power

Let us know what you think, Meopta makes some mighty fine full size bino's, alot of us will be interested in your opinion on the meopro.

Well, I received my Meopros and returned them the next day.  Maybe I had too high expectations after reading the Outdoor Life test, but they did not live up to them IMO.

I played around with them for 2 hours and never could get them focused properly.  Ergonomically I wasn't impressed either.  Glass did not have that WOW factor.  I am getting a pair of Yosemities instead.

I'm sure others will write and say they love their Meopro's.  They just didn't do it for me.

Have you tried the Nikon Monarch ATB's yet?   If not you should try these before buying.  They are very reasonably priced and in my opinion are very good glass for the average hunter.

I'll second that.  I have read some less than favorable comments about these here and there.  However I looked though a pair some time ago and was very impressed.  For the price I thought they were fantastic.

Are you talking about the Monarch X or the new ATB with dieletric coatings?

I have never spent any serious time with Monarch X, so I do not have an opinion on those.  Regular Monarch I have always considered serviceable, but underwhelming  You can do better for the money.

As far as 6x binoculars go, I have spent some time with just about everything available on the market (except for the MeoPro that is kinda new).  The best 6x binocular I have seen yet is Vortex Viper 6x32 although the Katmai is no slouch.  Just not as good as the Viper.

Since it was sometime ago I'm sure it was the older pair.  It was at least a couple years ago and I just remember how impressed I was considering the price.   Now since then Binoculars have come a long way in my opinion.  ED, HD's were rare and only on the top of the heap binocs.  No one heard of Zen's or Vortex back then.   So now it seams their not so impressive.
