Other than the objective diameter, what is different between these 2 scopes?  Looks like the 3-9x42 came first and was replaced by the 3-9x40.  Is the glass any different?

The MeoPro came first and has a cult following who love the sleekness and quality of this optic. The Optika5 2-12x42 PA has turned a lot of head and made converts out of some of the die hard MeoPro fans. The price is definitely a lot better in the 1 inch Optika5 line. The Optika Seriews of scopes 5/6, all  have MeoBright lens coatings and a water repellant coating. I have used the 5 and 6's and I know you won't be disappointed.

The meopta meopro came in 3-9x42 then they changed it to the meopta meopro 3-9x40.  I am just wondering if there is any difference between those 2 other than the objective size.

I am not really looking at the optika's.  They are too heavy in my opinion.  The optika5 2-10x42 is 20.8oz.  That seems heavy for a 42mm scope with a one inch tube, no target turrets, and no illumination.  If it were 5oz lighter like the meopro, I would own several.  This is just my own opinion.  I am not trying to optika bash.  I am getting old and I try to save weight everywhere I can.

It’s not what you asked but
I believe the older Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40s were built in the U.S. by Meopta and are the same as the Meopro. Reticles might be different. If your shopping for a used one, the Zeiss is likely to be cheaper. As for your question, I don’t know.

I have heard that as well.  They also made the cabelas scope.

I emailed Meopta about it and they said that they were exactly the same scope, one just has a slightly larger objective.  There is also a meopro 3-9x50 which I assume is the same.

All of the MeoPro's have the same glass and quality, that's why they are so sought after and used ones are very hard to come by. I do think that the MeoPro is better than the entry level Zeiss and a side to side comparission would prove that. Going with the Cabela's option while cost saving, won't give you as much quality as a used MeoPro. I do like the Optika5 but I don't believe the glass is the same. Can you tell the difference, barely.
Either way, it sounds like you will get something that will work for your needs.
