Curious on opinions with this scope...Mainly a couple of questions - How bright is it? And what are the quality of optics as far as repeatbility and reliability?

Would be going on a 30.06 for elk hunting in black timber and we are looking to get the brightest scope possible in a medium power without breaking that $600 price range.

Found this scope online for about $ 400.00.

According to some reports Zeiss Conquest is optically superior to Meopta's Artemis series, you can get a 3-9x40 for $400.

One neat thing, IMO, of the Artemis 2000 is a steel tube. Stronger, but also heavier.

My uncle owns an Artemis 2000 3-12x50. Very nice scope. Clear and bright, although quite heavy and bulky.

Hope I helped... Smile

The Meopta's are very nice scopes...bright and well made. You could do worse! Another possibility would be a Trijicon Accupoint. For low light, they are fantastic. New ones exceed your $600 budget but, IMO, they are well worth the price tag. Keep an eye out on the Sample List...ya never know! Good luck.

I hunt in a lot of timber. Dark, dense, brushy , etc.......The accupoint has been the best money spent

The bold reticle with the green dot coupled with nice glass.........is sweet!

I m not familiar with that model, but have  several others. The glass quality is good and light transmission is good enough here in MD to get you in trouble. With a 3-10 x50, Ive watched deer in the open 1/2 hr to 45 min past the legal cut off and been able to evaluate racks, just size not points. All in all I like them. EDIT: I do have an Artemis 2-8 w/ post reticle, its a great low light scope, bt its steel tube is a bit heavy.

Also, just remember that a Meostar R1 scope has the reticle situated in the second focal plane, while Artemis 2000/2100 scopes are in the first focal plane.  You will also find that Meostar R1 scopes have better overall light transmission.  But, depending on the hunting you do, having the reticle increase in size as you crank up the magnification (as is the case with the Artemis) is more important for holdover than the extra few percent light transmission.  All depends on your needs and budget.
