I plan to mount a Kahles CL 3-10x50 on a Rem. 700 short action (.308) with my current Leopold Bases (windage adj. in rear) and new burris signature rings. The ouside diameter of the objective lense is 56 mm. My barrel is slightly larger than a standard or sporter contour barrel, but it is not a heavy varmit or bull barrel. Years ago I bought the gun used and never saw any specs. on the barrel. So I am not sure of it's exact dimensions.

I have not purchased the rings yet, and of course I want to mount the scope as low as possible. But I don't want to order rings that are too low.

What do ya'll think, am I able to mount this scope with medium burris rings, or do I need to be safe and buy the high rings?

Correction: varmint
If anyone can give me the dimensions of the Burris rings, I can figure out which size rings to order. If not, I'll probably go with the high rings.

Just mounted a Nikon Monarch 50mm on a 700 long action using medium rings, but that doesn't mean it'll work with your application.  I'll be curious as to what others think.

I am assuming that you used Burris signature rings. Can you tell me how much clearance the objective has over the barrel?

My scope arrived today and I tried it on the existing Leupold medium rings, and there was plenty of clearance.

I believe the Burris medium rings will work fine.
