I've come to be the owner of a Meade model 87D Spotting Scope, 1000mm f/12.5 3.1" Mirror Lens. I believe this was made in the mid to early 80's.
What would this be best used for? Does it carry any value? I have no idea what to do with it currently. Probably throw it on my tripod tonight if it's clear and see what I can see in the night sky. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Had a difficult time finding info on this but came across an April 1984 (Vol 91, No 4) online issue of Popular Photography that has some info. Should be an 80mm objective and was originally supplied with a right angle prism and two eyepieces; 40x and 83x. Original US price including leather case was $398.
No idea of current value but unless a collector specifically wanted it would not think it would command a high price.
