I decided to send the Maven B2 back for a new wardrobe.  I also decided to bite the bullet and order an 8x30 B3.  The idea was coming up with a binocular combo where two can handle any viewing requirements reasonably expected to be covered with a handheld binocular.

I spent quite some time figuring what I was going to do.  With all of the combinations there is literally an endless number of ways to go.  With the B2, I wound up using the Kryptek Highlander camo rubber armor with black strap rings, eye piece rings, and black accents on a gray focus knob.  I wound up using green objective rings.  I wouldn't do the green rings again, they more or less disappear into the camo armor.

I went with a black stock rubber armor in the B3.  I added gray ocular lens rings with a gray focus knob.  I added red accents on the top and bottom of the focus knob and went with red objective rings.  I debated about ordering a matched set with a B3 to match the Kryptec of the B2 or a B2 to match the red and black of the B3.

It takes some time to get a customized binocular.  Lander, WY is not exactly on the main shipping lanes and neither is Klamath Falls, OR.  The custom order specs are sent to the supplier in San Diego where the work is done.  I comes back to Maven in Lander for inspection and shipping.  I sent the order, and packed up the B2 and sent it on its merry way.  What Maven did, and I really appreciate this, was keep the B2 I was sending back for the custom work as a demo.  They sent the order off for both a new B2 and B3.  Since it takes about 5-7 days for UPS ground to get it from Klamath Falls to Lander, this saved me that much time.

Mavin, I've heard the name but have no experience with this brand. Is it actually made in the USA, or is the ladder locale a distribution point?

Thanks for the rundown, very informative.

Yes, Maven told me to order a standard Bino for demo. If I decide to go with Maven permanently to order a custom (if wanted). I can wait unti I receive my custom before sending the demo (which is brand new) back. Can't beat that customer service!!

I am pumped to get the binos!!
