I am new to this forum. Hello everyone.
I was referred here form the surplus
rifle forum.
I have two Mauser scopes and wish to
know who made them. I do know they were
made in Japan and
imported by the
former Interarms company, now defunct.
Any info will help. Oh, yeah, One is
marked on the bottom as a Mark X and the other is not.
See photos attached.

Its really hard to say as there are many factories in the Orient that build scopes for any one.  Tasco, Bushnell, Weaver, Redfield, Simmons, etc. are all built by sub contractors...none of them own a factory.  So the answer to your question will not be, "That scope is made by Weaver" - because Weaver does not have a factory.

My best guess would be that it was made in one of the factories that tasco used named Hakko.

I agree with the Hakko solution. Their logo even looks similar to the mauser one. Both my scopes have very clear optics and respond well to adjustments in the field.
Thanks for the input here. It seems strange though tat this information is so hard to come by and so vague. It would be nice to get a definitive answer.
However, not all things are meant to be...
