Cant decide...not sure I want to do one of each..probably been beat to death....but any new reasons for one over the other for general dicking around with? Probably would leave open sights, maybe a scout scope at 2.5, but that would be it.
What am I going to do with it? Put it in safe, maybe shoot a few times a year at some targets....another one for the collection and firearms bank account.

I eould go 30-30 and shoot the 160 hornady ftx bullets. They completely change the game for lever guns.

I do like the that I can readily get the 30-30 with the big loop, which I do prefer, has laminate stock with it. Not sure why this is so difficult....
Thinking might just go 4x scope as well, the weaver classic k is a good bargain and would serve it well I think if I dont stay with irons.

I have a leupold 1.5-5x on my 45-70 and 1.25-5x sightron on my .357 lever gun. Perfect mag range imo. I had a 4x leupold for a while, but i thought it was to much mag for most of my uses of that gun

Ok for what its worth, after deliberation...going with the 30-30, as the 160 grn FTX Hornady ammo boasts some darn impressive numbers, actually outdoing the 200 grn in the same ammo out of the 35....plus sight 3 high at 100 and .2 inch low at 200....sounds perfect.
Going with either fixed 4, or might move my Minox 1.5-8x32 on to it...number 4 reticle so that might be sweeeet......

I have a Timberwolf in .357 mag. and I shoot the 140 gr. FTX in that. It's a 10 shot pump that was made by IMI back in the early 80's.

Finally got around to moving the Minox ZA5 over to the 20". Heres a pic of the 2...the 20" had some play in the stock that I couldnt fix without basically shimming the front band around the wood. Not sure if there is a better way to fix it, but it works. I cant stand parts moving that shouldnt.
Laminate stock feels much nicer to be honest, so if anyone looking, if I were to buy just one it would be the laminate. Much tighter fit as well, no difference in action or anything though.

Very Nice! My first center fire was a Glenfield Marlin 30-30 bought at Sears in 1977. The wood on it look like press board. Yours are a lot nicer....
