I've been in the Canadian Armed Forces for 8 years. I've served in Bosnia,
Afgahnistan, and various other toilet countrys I care not to mention. For the last half
decade or so the Canadian military has been using Leupold scopes until last April
2005 the Leupold 3.5-10x40 Mark 4 illuminated Mil-Dot LR/T on a 308. McMillan (C-3)
I felt that this was an awsome scope, so much so that I purchased one for my
personal rifle a (Remingtion 700 Sendero in 300. Rem. SA Ultra Mag. with a 10 rnd.
box mag. on an HS Precision PST-25 stock) The Canadian military is currently
outfiting the sniper corps and precision shooting teams with a 338. Lapua that
carries a US Optics SN-3 EREK 3.2-17x44 provided by PGW Defence Technologies
Inc. Located in Winnipeg Manatoba. http://www.pgwdti.com I haven't had the chance
to shoot this new rifle, but I have seen it and it look impressive. But what I do know is
that the Canadian military was paying $ 1100.00 CDN for the Leupold scope and is
paying $ 3000.00 CND for the US Optics scope. What's the deal ? Canadian Sniper
teams have shooting records all over the globe using the Leupold. Is the US Optics
scope so much better that it's worth 3 times the price. Or is it just way over priced?

I loved my SN-3 3-17x44mm w/ EREK knob..........

But, 3 times the price?? I don't know.
The right answer is "probably" no, unless you can afford it and want it.

It's nice to able to mill a target at any power setting like the FFP SN-3.
I had the MOA reticle in mine too. Loved it!!

Glass is superior on the USO.
The EREK knob is the deal too.
Both scopes are built rugged, but the SN-3 is flat out bomb proof.

Welcome aboard. Look forward to your real world opinions here at OT, Sir.

The advantage of being the Government is you aren't spending your own money therefore price is no object. Sounds like a good scoope for a good caliber.  Just keep telling yourself its not as heavy as a 50BMG, its not as heavy as a 50BMG...

How does it shoot?
