I was planing on taking a bear hunting trip this year and looking at some of the options out there. I looked on the web and there are several outfitters
in maine that offer a spring bear hunt on tribal land. It is more expensive than the fall hunts. the tribe makes you pay a 300 land access fee to hunt their property. I was really wanting to try it, but i can't decide which outfitter
to go with. I was wondering if anyone on this foUrm had ever hunted there before. If so how was it, and which outfitter would you recomend.

I don't see any responses to your question so I figured I would answer some of the questions. I own one of only 2 Tribal Guide services. My GS is called BearTracks and this will be our 4th year working my zone located near Jackman, Maine. One of the reasons our cost is so much higher is 2 fold, very low availability, we only accept 8 hunters a week and secondly costs we have to pay the Tribe is higher than the Fall bear hunters have to pay. However, we do have some incentives, For the 1st 25 booked Bear hunters, we are raffling off a free Moose hunt on Tribal Lands, no lottery etc. We currently have 10 booked for our Spring Season leaving 15 more slots and 1 will win a Free Moose hunt.
If you want real time answers feel free to email me at, or access my website, I will say there are only 2 Tribal Guide services, mine, and my cousin's, Wade Lola, service which is known as the Passamaquoddy Guide Service, the other 3 are run by non-Tribal members.
Both mine and my cousin's prices dropped due to the economy and in order to give our customers a break. Our deluxe package, everything included is 2000, the american plan is 1500, and the most basic is 1200. Let me know if there is any interest, it is getting close to our season start and I will do my drawing for the free Moose hunt after the close of bear season.
