I have re-chambered my 308Win to a 6mmRemAI.

The action is a Rem700. I now have a magazine capacity problem. It takes 3 rounds, but feeds poorly.

Is there an easy way of fixing this? I tried removing the metal magazine sleeve and using the stock cutout as the magazine. But then it will not chamber the rounds at all.

Any suggestions?

Right now I am tired of gunsmiths and all their promises, so I am hoping for an easy DIY answer.

I've seen spacers built and put into some mag boxes to help feeding problems.   Some use a polymer spacer, some have used a polymer sleave.

Can you run detachable in SA?

The current magazine capacity is too small. The AI is broader in the front then a 308Win.
So I need to run something bigger. But only slightly.

Yes we can run detachables, but I am not aware if a 700 can take a detachable????

But that is the type of easy fix I am hoping for???

The 700 has plenty of options for detachable mags.  I use a CDI precission on mine.  The importing of it to SA would be tricky I guess.  I need to look at mine and look at a 6mm AI and see what I can figure out.  I run a mag extender on a 700 and that may work.

several after market makers, Badger CDI, others will work. they make them for short actions.  Select the ones with AI mags. , they are designed with heavy lips that can be altered for feeding. I use 308 altered for function and release in a 300 wsm
