So i bought a creed a few weeks back. I had 200 brand new 22-250 lapua brass and no lomger own a 250 so i figured i would try to make the brass for the creed out of it. I bought a tapered expander ball from .22 to 6.5 and just ran it over the ball. Then i loaded up 32 grains of varget and put a fmj factory second bullet and went and shot it. It worked good. They fit into a case gauge perfectly after they were shot.

The only issue is they are slighty shorter. New hornady brass is 1.91 this after full lenght sizing the 250 brass is 1.86. Not sure what affect that will have if any on accuaracy. But it appears to be a good way to get me some lapua brass.

Sounds good Jason. You might have to anneal them pretty quick, but I can't think of any other problems. Lapua is introducing small primer Creedmore brass this year too. Just an fyi.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Thats a good point about annealing. I think i will do that before i load them again.

I have been reading about lapua. They are putting small primers in them too.

Shorter brass should not be an accuracy issue after the first fire forming. I have and still use a few batches of brass in various calibers that are a bit short. No problem.

Be careful when you anneal, that brass is rather short and you can ruin case heads in a hurry. Also, too much heat can compromise neck tension by making the neck too soft. When the neck and shoulder are too soft, you will cause run out and out of center rounds when you seat the bullet.
My annealing is always good on straight walled tapered cases, but on bottleneck cases i ruin brass about half the time. The best i ever did on bottle necked brass was to hold the cases by the head and rotate the necks over a flame until i could no longer hold because it burned my fingers, while sort of counting at the same time. That method worked well. Flooding the bases in water and heating the necks with the torch is safe, but you risk heating the necks too much, or too much on one side only.

I bought 100 pcs. of Nosler premium brass or my Creed. Outstanding quality, as good as Lapua.

The new Lapua with larger case capacity and small primer will allow some pretty hot loads.

Thanks for the input on annealing.

I once had a guy ask if his gun was okay since he shot a 7mm-08 from his 308 rifle.

When I read the title of this thread, I had a similar mental image, but with a far worse outcome.

I know with 308 cases, you need to trim the necks about 3thousandths of an inch. The case neck is to thick and causes neck tension issues. Something to think about.

You have to trim a .308 alot more than that. I tinkered around and tried both 308 and 243. The 22-250 and 6.5 creed are from the same parent case the 250 savage. So they work a lot better. There are a lot of steps involved with 243 and 308 cases. Some even recommend trimming the end of a 243 die to make it work.

Running it over an expander ball and fireforming seemed simple enough
