I am looking for optics for an M1A1 in a Troy chassis I am concerned about the double recoil (bolt going forward) damaging the scope. I have been looking at the Super Sniper 10x scopes and I am wondering if anyone has other suggestions. I do not want to go over $800 which is the cost of the SS 10x42 HD model or go high power over 10x. Does anyone else have this setup if so what do you use.

I have a troy MCS as well. Used the ss 10x42 standard model for years without issue. I recently got in on the 1-6, 5-20 deal so I sold the 10x42.
Here are some of my photos of how the setup might look with the 10x42 MCS NM M1A by mhawkcmaster, on Flickr troymcs4 by mhawkcmaster, on Flickr MCSINVG by mhawkcmaster, on Flickr |

I think the 10 x 42 SS HD would be a fine choice. I run a 1.5x compact ACOG on mine and have had good luck with an Aimpoint but have not liked traditional optics on it as well. I tride a Leu Mk4 8.5-25x50 for a while but it was more scope than I wanted on it. I think the fixed 6x would also be a fine choice.

How hard is it drop a M-14/M1A in that stock, apcreno? Does it help with fullauto control?

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Nice rifle and great background scenery reminding me of the Big Horns and Northwestern WY around the Powell/Lovell area.

Thanks for the replies. I have decided to go with the SS 10x with side focus. Now to figure out the mount, I am leaning towards the American Defense Recon. I will try to post som pics when it is done. Again thanks for the suggestions.
