Ok Guys have not posted in a few years so had had to re-register..anyway I have recently had my 22" M1A converted to a Scout Squad configuration and want to utilize the forward mount and was looking at the 3 that are listed, http://swfa.com/Leatherwood-2-7x32-Long-Eye-Relief-Scout-Scope-P1568.aspx , http://swfa.com/Leupold-15-4x28-VX-II-Scout-Scope-P50858.aspx , http://swfa.com/Burris-275x20-Scout-Scope-P2020.aspx going to couple the glass with say some LEU QR low rings and am looking for any other suggestions.
Thanks

the pistol scopes work just as well and they are shorter. Also strongly consider and eotech.

forgot to add that the main advantage of the scout concept is speed-- the higher the power of the scope the longer it takes to align it. if your considering a variable handguns scope you should really go look through one first. they are slower than waiting for the dog. |

The Leupold 2.5 in a scout scope is a fine choice not sure about the new variable. You can run a scope like an aimpoint on it as well. The up side of using an Aimpoint or the Eotech is that you have illumination at night the down side is you have to turn it on and it runs on a battery.

One other 1x choice is the Tijicon which uses fiber optic + tritium for illumination so there is no need for a battery.

Personally I think the Leupold 2.5x would be a good choice and the Aimpoint would be a good choice depending on use. If you hunt with it the Leupold for a tactical gun the Aimpoint or Trijicon Reflex or Trijicons small version:
or you can go with a compact 1.5 ACOG like this:
