I've got an M1 carbine WW2 era I'd like to sell
If I find someone in the US to buy it do your current laws allow the importation of this rifle.
I know you have some restrictions for importing but it was manufactured in the US so I assume it's not a problem. Can anyone tell me fore sure?

No. The M1 Garand was chambered in .30-06, but that is a much larger action.
The M1 Carbine is chambered for what is pretty much a .30 caliber pistol cartridge in a straight-walled case. It fires a 110-grain bullet at  perhaps 1500 FPS. (?)

  Edited to add:
1580 to 1950 FPS. according to my old Speer manual.

Ronk is right,
the M-1 carbine was made for the paratroopers of WWII, it was lighter than the M-1 Garand
but it was no match for other sub-guns it didn't have the knockdown power nor the range of the Garand.

The front line infantry weapon before the garand was the 1903 Springfield bolt action.

P.S.
The Garand is a thumb buster if your slow on the reload, LOL you only make that mistake once.

There are a couple of companies that help people bring thier firearms into Canada for hunting.  You might want to contact them and see who they suggest you contact.

Actually it was made to be issued to officers and anyone else require a more compact weapon than the garand. There was a folding stock version made for paratroppers later the M1A1. It had more than double the power of most sub machine guns except the Thompson and M3
A 111gr FMJ at 1974 FPS produces aproximately 950 ft/lbs of energy
where as the 9mm 124gr at 1200 fps produces 400 ft/lbs of energy
Ya it was found lacking compared to the garand but not to other SMG's

Silver I'm in Canada I want to sell it in the US

Catfish,

People who take guns into Canada, then want to bring them back into the US...   Who ever wants to buy your gun in the US has to import the gun. See extra cost...  You have to find an importer for that gun, before it can be sold or your deal will fall through.

Killed my first two deer with one when I was learning the ropes with my dad and grandfather. Great little rifle. During World War II and years following there were lots manufactured by many different companies including Winchester, GM, etc.
