I have a Lyman 2 1/2 power Alaskan scope which I obtained when I purchased a used rifle. I knew it was inoperable at that time. It appears that the cross "hair" broke and someone tried to disassemble the adjustment knobs in an attempt to fix the problem.

All the parts seem to be there; and everything else about the scope seems OK.

Does any one know of firms that repair/rebuild these scopes??

Thanks

By the time you go thru all the hassle to find someone who could fix it, assuming there may not be any warranty coverage, your better off just buying a new one! If possible, check with Lyman 1st though!!......If you do buy a new one, buy a better quality 2.5X scope.

Lyman Alaskan are true classics.

And they are worth some money as well, usally sells for around 300-400 US on Ebay.

I don't know who can repair it, but I certainly think it can be worth it, not for the use of the scope but for the heritage and maybe the rifle.

Iron Sight Inc. will repair the Lyman Alaskan scopes.  The current price sheet quotes the cost to be $75.00 which includes return shipping.  The wait is quoted at approximately 6 months.  I too have one of these scopes and wouldn't mind having it repaired if necessary.  Worth is something I do not hold much stock in.  Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, or some things are just not for sale.  Anyway, the Lyman Alaskan scopes I have seen for sale range between $150-$300.  By the way, Iron Sight Inc. also refinishes scopes.  You have to call for a quote.   Below is the information.
